Seven Days Review (LostPomegranate)

Seven Days is a decent to good nakige, but it is let down a bit by some uneven writing. I'd still recommend it to anyone looking to read a visual novel with multiple cathartic releases, as it filled its job on the nakige side fairly well (I cried 6 times throughout which is uncommon for me).

The writing that starts off very strong through the first 3-4 chapters unfortunately starts to drop off as it goes on. It also gives in a bit - major spoilers - to the whole parallel universe / time travel tropes in order to create a truly "happy end". I personally dislike this as it tends to leave a bunch of questions, and I don't feel like it should've been in this story. I think this story would've been better served by completely ignoring the "mystery" aspect of it and instead focusing on the emotional moments. Those emotional moments were the strongest writing in the VN, whereas the "mystery" writing was subpar to the point where I'm not even sure it is much of a mystery.

Music was appropriate but minimal. Systems were straightforward and even include a bare bones TTRPG sim and some quick-time events which were appreciated.

Despite its issues, I still enjoyed my time with this visual novel, although I spent far less than seven days reading it. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a decent nakige that doesn't mind it missing H content and can overlook some of its weaknesses, as the emotional bits are pretty strong.
