Session: Skate Sim Schoolyard Review (Venice Beach)
UNFINISHED DEVELOPMENT - ABANDONED GAME
THE BAILS ARE DEADLY BORING !!!
They are as ugly as they are slow and unnatural.
It's a huge waste of time to respawn that adds nothing to the gameplay except frustration.
I understand that it's a fall & retry skate sim, but it makes you want to give up more than start again.
To learn, a large flat place would be much easier than being on spots where the slightest obstacle makes you fall miserably, whereas in real life it would have done nothing to you.
Doing a trick flip is much easier than doing an Ollie !
You have to be very precise between the top and bottom of the stick, otherwise it flips every time
Same, doing a very technical grind or slide is easier than doing a simple 50-50.
In fact, you can land insane tricks doing anything, especially on flats and jumping over stairs or gaps.
On the other hand, doing Ollie manuals is much harder than in real life, which is a shame.
Some missions are imprecise, i.e. to do an Ollie-gap-grind :
I jump on the platform, jump the gap and miss the handrail, but I land on the stairs and grind theres that validates the mission.
Finally, some missions are very hard : Cole's Line, Daewon Manuals...
I think this game is not suitable for the Steam Deck controller :
Either it's the controller that is not precise, or the inputs are poorly programmed...
Too much down tempo music : a few rap, pop, rock, electro... more punchy would give motivation and be good for the ears.
The graphics of the skaters we control are less beautiful than the locals and pros.
It's still a bad game, which is change from the arcade TH1+2, and I WILL NOT support it by having bought all the DLCs to hope that the devs correct sticky points... BUT WON'T !!!
