Sakura Gamer Review (Pistol Packin' Mama)
The same cringy tropes, with the same boring, "tell me you're not a lesbian without telling me you're not a lesbian" sex, ergo writing that never aspires to go beyond merely adequate, but unlike most other Winged Cloud titles, the characters here manage to offer at least more than an oil stain's worth of depth, and when combined with an unexpected dose of much-welcome meta commentary that, while deeply ironic (this studio hasn't really learned anything after peaking in 2016), makes for a rare Sakura title that you may actually WANT to read, even if it pales in comparison to Dungeon and Fantasy, but then again: who expected it to?
Generally I buy these (well, the sapphic ones, anyway; everything else Winged Cloud makes would be an utter waste of my time and money) simply out of support for queer media in general, but at least in this rare instance, Sakura Gamer presents commendable qualities, counter a grand yawn over a collected series that any other given time would likely embody the mundane.
