Saints Row: The Third - Genkibowl VII Review (LEGION_FIVE)

Gameplay-wise, this has to be the worst DLC I've ever played. It really takes the worst bits of the game, amplifies them and sticks them right up your ass. I've only played three missions this DLC has added so far and each of them is horrendous. They constantly break their own game's rules just to spite the player and I constantly find myself frustrated to my wits' end.
In the very first mission, they constantly barrage you with an influx of flamethrower-wielding brutes. Yes, plural. Only after playing the mission 7-8 times did I realize that that unlike other Genki activities, this mission features an endless supply of them and they'll keep respawning no matter how many times you kill them, which eventually either leads to you dying or the time running out and trust me, the former has a highly likely chance of occurring than the latter since these guys can have heavy armor, wield heavy artillery and still manage to outrun you in what's basically a close quarters combat meaning you'll be surrounded and stunlocked by them no matter where you're standing. Preposterous.
In the second mission, you start with bare hands and there's only one of these guys but only after wasting 3-4 tries did I figure out that unlike the in the previous mission, or pretty much any mission in the entire game, the brute in this one was unkillable no matter how many bullets you pump into him. In the end, in both these missions, the key to win the game was to ignore the brutes which is exceptionally weird given that the rest of the game never functioned like this. Ridiculous.
In the third mission, you're supposed to be driving someone around while running NPCs over but surprise surprise, the devs decided to break the rules of the game yet again. This particular mission is a derivative of the Escorts mission from the base game where you constantly get harassed by newsvans spawning all over the city. In this mission, its SUVs instead of the newsvans and you have to outrun them while committing carnage but the devs just unflagged the newsvans so that their presence doesn't count- they forgot to remove them from spawning everywhere in addition to the SUVs. As a result, you might speed up to get away from the SUVs, only to run into randomly spawning violent newsvan-induced traffic jams and get flanked by the SUVs at the same time. The vehicle you have to drive itself is probably the most unstable in the game as it constantly and uncontrollably tries to fly (?) as some sort of glitch, even though its not supposed to. That was how I got stuck between a tree and a building and lost the round the first time. The second time around, a random NPC car rear-ended me before I could even start the mission and stunlocked me while carrying me around. The third time I got crashed into by an enemy vehicle and flew straight into the ocean, instantly failing the mission. There's some weird physics about the particular vehicle they give you for that mission and in it's current state, its just not driveable at all. I don't understand how so many people completed this DLC but it must have taken a million tries to achieve that because this DLC is broken AF. Outrageous.
Overall, I'm only three missions in but the rewards this DLC offers are just not worth the frustration. This is possibly the most stressful DLC I've ever played. Not recommended.
