Road 96: Mile 0 Review (wzak2)

This game is a step down compared to 1st entry. Really you should stick to previous one.

It generally feels like the budget for it got slashed and this is the outcome. Whatever made previous game special, its completely gone here: randomized plot points followed from many POV's has been watered down to 2 not really interesting characters with predefined outcomes, forget about choice making, I was actively trying to sabotage whole story, yet because it's on rails so much, the game doesn't allow you to pivot from it any at any point whatsoever, the choices here are just an illusion covered under more dialogue lines leading to same outcome. Each of 2 characters has like morale meter and it only affects the ending, nothing else.

Gameplay: it's this really weird mishmash of semi open maps that ends with visually pleasing and nicely storytelling, but heavily disorienting Subway Surfers x Temple Run combo. Cool art style, but generally not much is going on there and it's giving mobile game vibes.

Technical standpoint, the game lacks good polish. There's 4 main areas you constantly visit yet one of which halves my fps when you look at central point for no reason. The game sure do looks good visually, but why does it have tough time keeping stable frame rate especially since nothing much is moving. About stairs you can write bachelors, walking up the camera jumps up and isn't smooth but when you sprint down, you can levitate and occasionally stand on rails??? How??? If I wasn't as in mood to rush trough it, I'd probably find a way out of bounds using this trick. NPC's by the Tyrak's speech booth looks like they have 5 frames of animation, and you pretty much stand next to them and there's maybe 10 people moving so again, what is going on here?

If this was the 1st entry to the series, the expectations would've been different but since this not you can not judge this title as standalone piece. Honestly this game is not worth your time. Characters are bland, you're just following the script and the choices doesn't matter in this "choose your adventure" game.

Please don't buy it, thank you.
