River City: Rival Showdown Review (Maximum Game)
River City: Rival Showdown is a remake of Downtown Nekketsu Story. This version was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS. Now it’s available on Steam, Switch, PlayStation 5, and PS4.
This game runs well for me. I get a solid 60 FPS. I’ve tried using different controllers: Xbox One, Xbox Elite Series 2, PlayStation 5, and PS4. I get a constant 60 frames per second, no matter which controller I use. All 6 buttons work just fine. I use them in wired mode. I use Windows 11. I did not have to adjust any setting or use any workarounds to get the game to work. Even my laptop runs it just fine (Ryzen 7 CPU with AMD Radeon graphics).
I wish the game included Japanese voice acting and instant save states. Perhaps these can be added in the future.
Overall, I’m enjoying playing River City: Rival Showdown. I would recommend it to fans of Downtown Nekketsu Story and River City Ransom.
