Rise of the Ronin Review (n1lknarf)

I can see why people complained about this game's running poorly:
I'm currently stuck in a black screen of death (2nd one so far, no loading logo, nothing).
I'm not a streamer, so my PC is completely dedicated to run the game. Streamers will obviously have poorer performance.
The game will catfish you into thinking you can max the settings in the tutorial level because it's an independent level from the open world. Once you enter the open world you'll realize it's obviously not optimized. The setting that you have to set to low to get the most performance is LOD, so the models will pop sooner but at least you won't run at 20fps.
The visual aspects of the game, especially animations, is very unpolished; for context, DS2 has proper animation blendings for left foot forward and right foot forward; here we just snap in place. The dodge animation snaps without blending, very jarring.
I like the input execution, tho there's no input buffer. The problem is your combo self expression doesn't matter when the attacks don't have properties to make combat engaging: this is just another soulslike turnbased combat, enemies will define when your turn ends, and you'll be punished for doing combos and self expressing.
I'm so F U K 1 N tired of the soulslike combat. Just let the Ai defend to end my turn so there's a visual indicator, rather than poise with an attack and punish me for expressing myself in combat. How am I supposed to know my turn ended? The result is having to contain myself and lose on possible damage I may or not have a right to cuz I don't know when the Ai will poise to end my turn.
The character creator is good, wish there were more full body tattoos.
I bought this game cuz I've been deprived of a proper feudal japan action sandbox for years, since way of samurai 3, and I ain't cosplaying as a black dude in chinapan, nor risk to buy from a company that's going bankrupt not knowing whether my license will continue to be valid or not.
I'll suck this vomit acting like is honey.
