Resident Evil: Revelations Review (Suleiman The Magnificent)

I started my Resident Evil journey with RE4, then played RE2 and RE3, and before moving on to RE5 i wanted to take the story seriously and have a more solid start. So I jumped into the Revelations series, which supposed to be played before RE4 and after RE5.
Even though it’s a painful adventure, let’s decide if it was a good or bad choice
1) Atmosphere&Graphics
The game nails the old Resident Evil creepy, unsettling vibe. For Graphically,it’s on par with CoD and Battlefield from the same era, but way too behind games like GTA V , TLOU, and Far Cry.
2) Characters & Dynamics
Jill with Parker and Chris is great. Jill’s quiet, serious personality that actually cares about her friends is good. And Chris being a total GIGA CHAD? Love it (waitin’ for him to be GOAT in RE5).
Parker and Jessica bring some much-needed flavor, even if they’re kinda underdeveloped.
And Quint&Keith? Their banter cracked me up.Quint’s shy, simp, nerdy coder personality—yeah, that’s basically me (don’t judge i hate myself). And Keith's jokes about him, they were hilarious. They barely had screen time but became my faves.
3) Music & Cinematography
Pretty decent.Nothing mind-blowing, nothing trash imo no need to say more.
4) Enemy Variety
Might be the crappy platform’s fault, but enemies felt kinda yk meeeh. Still, decent enough.
5) Weapon Variety
Bro,there are so many weapons of all kinds. And the upgrade system is cool tho
Wish we could’ve physically modified guns like in RE2R&RE3R and also not be forced to juggle only 3 slots causing my brain to work 200% just deciding what to carry.
6) Story & Narrative
Let’s be real, RE’s story has always been awful
RE2 gave us the horror of the T-virus and William’s tragic family.
RE3 showed us the horrors of mad science and Nikolai’s dirtbag acts through action. But the formula was just bad scientists creates viruses and our heroes beating the shit of them, nothing special
RE4?I love so much my dear resident evil 4 but the story is a complete joke... And the remake didn’t do any better but just combining the game’s shitass story with a serious n gloomy tone, killing all the authenticity (that’s a rant for another day).
But RE: Revelations? This story’s a wild ride with no clue what’s coming next.
From the dark truth about FBC, Veltro conspiracy, Morgan’s evil plans, Jessica’s betrayal to despair of O'brian,it keeps the plot alive
Normally, I’d hate those small, personal side stories, but this one’s got that ideological and philosophical twist about institutions twisting truth that I really liked.
(Activision should take notes and make self-criticism instead of licking ''savior'' America' ass)
For a RE game, this is VERY good story
7) Gameplay 🤣
2 words
F*CKING DOGSHİT
Aiming worse than 2005 RE4.
Walking? Absolute pain in the ASS
Swimming feels better than walking no joke😭
Dodge mechanic? No clue how to use it properly.
NPCs slam doors in your face, then you gotta reopen them.
In RE4,my beloved Leon would kick doors open while running but HERE Jill’s opening doors like she’s doing tea time.
At the last chapters of game, i needed to throw a bomb at crazy bitch Rachel waiting outside First gotta open the door, which means stepping inside, then reposition, THEN throw. What kind of stupid design is that CAPCOM
Old re games had excuses bcs they were on PS1/PS2.But this came out in 2012/13 or whatever shit it is, Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles already came out,and there's a new generation with Xbox One and PS4???? Yet the gameplay is still shit
Pathetic.
Conclusion
I’m glad for playing this game bcs made me like Jill more and warm up to Chris before RE5, plus gave me a solid story with cool characters.
But damn, it was also a total nightmare to play.
