Well, I wish there was a neutral review option but if I have to pick this leans more to the negative side. The extra root story is good, the new maps look great, but it feels like they tried to draw out the play time by making all the maps overly large, and it just makes the faults of the RNG map generation the base game had much more glaring. You have these huge maps with repeated chunks which amount to tons of huts or houses to look through for the 1 item and 1 tome that is somewhere on the map, the enemies are spread out as thinly so you are only fighting at most a handful at a time, sometimes 1 enemy at a time lol.
The AI of the ratmen is really annoying, all they do is fire 1 shot and run away from you, they run away so much one just kept vaulting in and out of the same window like 5 times in a row :P. It just amounts to annoying game play of chasing them around to finish them off if you're not 1 shotting them. The new elites are fine, except that it seems like they are basically recycled into the ratmen bosses with some extra abilities for several of them. I would have much prefered to fight more root than all these fleeing ratmen. Also the bosses are a lot easier compared to the main game IMO, I killed every one first try without going under half HP (I rolled off a bridge and killed myself once on the Ice conjuring ratman boss).
The new items are nice and enable more builds etc. but with Remnant 2 coming out so soon it's not really worth getting just slightly different builds in this game. The lore is good but honestly you can just watch a video if that is all you want and save all the drawn out hours of picking up scrap.
