Red Matter 2 Review (Unit13)
I am conflicted with Red Matter 2. Although the puzzles are more ingenious than Red Matter 1, where I was only stumped on a safe code. These puzzles are much more unique with the VR software. I also loved the improved movements and large scale of the game, and the fleshed out lore/story.
However, there are some mini-games that seem pointless, the hacking mini-game had no skill. The combat was a welcome element, it soon overstayed its welcome. And became frustrating at the end where you had to fight through a horde with no save points. I also rage quit after I got soft locked during the reactor pipe platforming puzzle. Where I would respawn on the side of the pipe causing me to fall continuously. After reloading an auto save, the mini blimp got stuck on a shelving unit out of sight, causing me to reload another save.
Red Matter 1 I can introduce VR to new people, but the difficulty of Red Matter 2 combat makes it so I can't use it to show off a fun puzzle game with an interesting story. If you are an experience VR user, then go for it. But I can only give this a thumbs up for the increased quality and wonderful story. But I can't really give it a glowing review either.
