Record of Agarest War Review (*Logan*)

I have spent almost four hours playing this game and that will be enough for a lifetime.
In the past I have played at least a hundred hours of Agarest: Generations of War and that was a huge waste of time and I never even completed it.
Years later this game comes out, advertises itself as being "different" but they somehow made this series even worse, and thanks to someones bright idea of making it a mobile port, it looks like oversimplified low quality rushed garbage.
It's also quite creepy to be honest.
This game has a mini game themed around touching the girls and you've got these "over 18" girls sprawled out on the bed arms above her head looking at you to touch her for "affection XP".
The main character is a male and his small three female party of "over 18" girls travel through tiny linear paths on a ugly generic map and interior dungeons from dot to dot fighting wave after wave after wave of random turn-based battles collecting an excessive amount of materials and gold needed for an endless crafting cycle of armor and items and XP.
Each character can be assigned a role such as "fighter" or "healer" and can level up that class and it's abilities and you can change classes for that character at any time outside of battle.
Level up your skills by going to a shrine and using collected materials and gold to unlock stat boosts and new abilites for each character.
Take side quests from the Inn, talk to townsfolk for bizarre immature dialog, and realize the entire town is just a single low quality picture.
This game does have a very basic crafting system with once again, you will need to grind many materials and gold to cover that.
The game has really low quality graphics for a 2018/2019 RPG. It feels very "zoomed in" even on high resolution, and the graphics are very low detail compared to countless other RPGs I have played over the years. It really feels like it lacks "polish". The artwork is pretty bad in my opinion. Compare it to other anime themed games such as the Neptunia series, Omega Quintet, and Fairy Fencer to name a few and I think you will see what I mean.
The gameplay which is the most important part is also a problem. While I touched on it earlier I will say some more about it here.
It's way too frequent and uncontrolled due to the high frequency random battles. It's one of those very very grindy RPGs and you have no choice in the matter or you will die.
You need to fight countless amounts of battles to get all the materials and gold you need to level up your skills, armors, specials, and stats.
The battles though are "ok" everything you would expect is available here such as special moves and team attacks but it all just feels too generic and basic. None of the moves or attacks feel very unique.
It's easy to go too far into a dungeon as well and realize it's getting too dangerous and if you came unprepared you will still have to survive countless random battles to escape.
It's hard to believe that there may be a market for games like this but I think it's a very small one. I think that market may be filled with very young players who don't know any better or have not taken the time to do some research. The bar has been raised for games like this long ago and it's just rude to release garbage like this for any price after all the progress we have made in the genre.
Pros: ( What stands our the most for me)
...I can't think of anything. Seriously I am trying. Nope, there are no redeeming qualities here, it's all a complete step backwards in terms of game play, audio, artwork, graphics, and menus. Even the conversations between the main character and the other party members just feels forced and impersonal.
Cons:
Everything. Everything here is low quality, generic, ugly, lame, boring, rushed, crap.
Don't waste your time here, please buy a better turn based RPG you won't have to look hard in 2019.
