Ray'z Arcade Chronology Review (Salt_Sudoku)
The package itself is great and of the usual M2 standard. You're getting an extremely accurate collection of the three arcade titles that's not an input leg ridden mess of a Saturn or console port slapped into an emulator that comes with enough enthusiast features (save states/practice options/screen size adjustments/"gadget" information displays/rankings/replays/leaderboards/etc) to make it a convenient and comparative alternative to emulation. If the price isn't a breaking point for what you're getting I do recommend getting this if you're interested (or wait for a future sale)
My current qualms come with the current issues running it via Linux and carryover of smaller issues from their previous PC works. I've tried different Proton versions; some which experience a crash immediately after the title screen and others which crash when entering any of the Graphical/Display/Controller sub-menus within the pause screen. For the ones experiencing only the crash in the options menu, the games themselves are working fine with the "defaults" (no screen sizing issues/no tearing/input lag/etc), but not being able to enter any of those config menus at all means I haven't been able to test any of those changes or what they could cause. I have not found any workaround that resolves these two issues. and I didn't experience any of these issues with their previous PC versions, which uses much of the same UI/Menu design and features. Additionally, some issues such as the lack of keyboard bindings (even though I play with pads/arcade stick) still have carried over to this version.
Edit: I have found a workaround that bypasses the above issue. Since this no longer makes the game unplayable for me, I will move this review to recommended. See comments for details and the fix.
