Pocky & Rocky Reshrined Review (Kadar)
Its good, But its not a remaster, its a reimagining. Don't make that mistake as i did.
PS. i dont know if its relevant, but i played on the game Normal after writing this review. Maybe Hard brings everything back. I will soon play that. I will alter the review if needed
But heres a small list what to expect. I wont try to spoil anything as story wise but i point out what has been changed.
Some things have been added and some are removed or completely altered that it doesn't even seem like the orignal anymore.
Black Mantle is altered (story and character wise)
Some levels are altered in a way you remember them, but they aren't what they were on the SNES.
Extra characters have been added. TBH, they fit in the story but some change the gameplay to much imo that it basicly becomes easy mode.
Some secrets i couldnt retrigger like the gods secret locations. I dont know if i did it wrong but looking back on the original work on SNES, some things arent even there.
Some bosses are replaced by new ones and some are completely removed it seems
Some mini bosses i didnt encounter.
A new powerup has been added. which feels kind of overpowered or on some characters gives you so much of an advantage the entire challange of the game is gone.
Altho, it isnt completely faithfull to the original Pocky & Rocky on SNES and some changes bother me. I would still recommend it because its most likely the best we will get. It plays like Pocky & Rocky atleast.
A few things about the design choices.
For the price of a sweet 30 euros. which is quite steep for a game you will most likely finish in a less than 2-3 hours. Atleast adding the original SNES game would have been nice. An ingame emulator could have easily solved this and it most likely didnt cost you alot of time / money to fix this.
Why is free mode locked? This game has coop but you need to either finish the story OR collect 10000 coins total (which will take you alot of time, you most likely completed the story by that time) if you dont know about the code to unlock it. WHY?! To force me to play alone? The original game didnt have this why would a reimagine?
