Planet Zoo: Tropical Pack Review (one.leg.flamingo)
I was very disappointed with the scenario that comes with this pack. It feels like a basic game tutorial. The habitats are already built and the animals are easily available. You drop them in the habitat and walk away. Everything is very pretty, but no effort whatsoever went into creating opportunities for the player to make strategic decisions or do much of anything. Figure out where they intended for you to put the water filter in their overly complicated design. The thing is, even very simple games, like checkers, can be fun. Frontier had consistently opted to increase the complexity of the simulation, but that complexity has done almost nothing to change or improve my experience as a player. Genetics, social dynamics... they all sound cool in theory, but I don't even notice them, because the game does nothing with them other than acknowledge their existence. I don't play differently because of them. What are players supposed to do with this scenario zoo? Look at it.
