Planet Coaster 2 Review (RoboticsMas1)
This game should not have released in this state for several reasons.
First of all, the ui is awful. many buttons are too small despite having large areas of unused space right next to them. You can not view the ride's live g force data while editing the track because this data is in a different tab. When editing the ride, everything is spread out between tabs for no apparent reason, which makes it a pain to build anything because you need to click a tiny arrow button to navigate the menu. All other areas of the games ui share this problem where everything is too small and split into a bunch of tabs despite there being empty space everywhere that they could have just moved the other tabs to.
The graphics are another major issue. When starting the game, the graphics are so blurry that anything more that a few feet away is impossible to see. Even with better graphics settings the game looks oversaturated and out of focus with no options seeming to help. The animations for special ride elements like switch tracks are jittery and not at all how they should look in a finished product. Waterslides do not have physics-based animations at all, and are by far the worst issue with animations.
The game also has a baffling number of limitations that are entirely unnecessary on PC. You can not put a car from one coaster onto another, you can't increase the guest cap beyond 6,000, you can't add seperate load and unload stations, you can't place special ride elements like switch or drop tracks on most rollercoasters, and many other limitations that severely harm the game's potential. Many features from the first game are also removed, hotels are gone despite the addition of a resort theme, most scenery themes are removed, and DLC content from the first game is missing.
In addition, some parts of the game simply do not function. Guests will often fail to pathfind to rides, especially waterslides. The ride operator staff member is almost entirely useless, and switch tracks will not allow you to create swing launches like the ones on Pantheon or Top Thrill 2.
Overall, the game should still be in early access and is definitely not worth $50 yet.
