Pizza Tower Review (Mr. Graves)

Pizza Tower is a game I highly recommend.
Not because it's the best platformer I've played in years.
Not because the soundtrack slaps harder than an overtuned spanking machine. (Seriously, it's probably my favorite since Deltarune & Undertale.)
Not because of the incredible art style.
Not even because of the fact that this game deserves to succeed because of the sheer effort and dedication shown by the development crew.
I recommend Pizza Tower because of the character arc, even though all of the preceding points are completely valid reasons to recommend it. Peppino is not a greedy treasure hunter like Wario. He is not a successful and heroic plumber like Mario. He is not.. uh, Luigi. Peppino is a small business owner being antagonized by a bigger, stronger competitor he can't possibly financially threaten, and he knows it.
Throughout the entire game, it is very clear he knows it; everything about Peppino's body language is designed to convey one simple message - this guy is as highly strung as a freshly-tuned violin atop the Empire State building. This makes him easy to relate to for most people living in the 21st century. Unless the player is a level-die gamer, your journey through the Pizza Tower will almost certainly see poor Peppino subjected to violent abuse, both mental and physical. The archetypes of a nervous chef and a victimized small business owner are further combined with the sympathy you should naturally feel for Peppino when he gets beaten down by the Tower because of your own fuckups.
All of this makes it that much more satisfying when Peppino finally snaps.
"What did he mean by this?" I'm not going to tell you. This is an answer you'll need to find for yourself. Play Pizza Tower.
