Pinball FX: Tomb Raider Pinball Review (mbndarin)
Generally fan of Pinball FX and former Zen pinball platforms. I love the licensed Tomb Raider property and graphically the tables have a lot of visually interesting elements. Sadly, there is too much attention to the graphical elements and poor execution of game play in this latest table pack addition. It is really just difficult to know intuitively what you are shooting for and tracking the ball in the graphical clutter just increases the frustration. I wanted to like these tables and I may need more time with them to get comfortable, yet I do lose a lot of joy when it becomes work to understand what to do. I spent a lot of time sending the ball down various ramps and scoops to make meaningless progress, to an extent it became boring as I couldn't get modes to activate and when they did, couldn't understand what combos I needed to hit. Zen, pinball is meant to be an intuitive game you can walk up and play, feel quickly rewarded, without need for a bunch of instruction. Hope you can correct the game play for the next tables released. While visual candy is nice to look at, it is short lived.
