Pinball FX: Grimm Tales Review (cranich)
I have played this one many hours, in hindsight not because I liked it, but because I wanted to like it. The theme is very appealing and the design -on the surface- a nice mixture of loops, ramps and targets, quite cramped thereforce making difficult to aim precisely enough, but nice. Yet beware, this table is cursed by a witch! Literally.
For one during the main multiball, "cystal multiball", which gets triggered fairly often, she starts to violently fast fly over the playfield in loops, like a mosquito that has just nibbled on the biggest caffein addict in human history, and you just whish to swat the witch out of the air, but you can't. While desperately trying to focus, so you can aim at the narrow right ramp, to score the jackpot, you secretly want the balls to train, so the madness stops.
But that is just the beginning, at the worst times the witch gets 'angry', resulting in your ball to be interfered with in such a way, that the only realistic option is to wait till the 30 seconds this is active are over. Player punishment as an end in itself.
Some of the the seven stories(main modes), are fairly easy to complete with just a few shots, but others are so overly difficult, that finishing them all is extraordinarily difficult. No sense of accomplishment ever came over me, I never managed to rescue Pincess Camomille even once, by completing them all. God have mercy on her poor soul, I'll look for another princess that is easier to rescue in another realm.
Aditionally, the time of writing, known game breaking bugs are still present.
