PGA Tour 2K25 Review (Wyatt Derp)
Where to start. Well, I can sum up the largest issue being that character progression is tied to VC, the "currency" of 2k25. This in itself is nuts. I don't need VC to raise my attributes in WWE2k25, or any other sports game that I've played. So in this game, you'll always be behind with character points to spend, waiting on VC.
So let me break this down. There are 5 "classes" so to speak, and each one has access to different skills. You can UNLOCK these skills for your other players by getting that Archetype to Ovr 85. So you need to get 4 characters to 85, then your 5th character (or your main character) can have access to everything. Now, getting a character to Ovr 85 costs 8,900 VC! How much is that? Well you can buy 16,000 VC for 100 REAL DOLLARS. So **IF** you spent 100 actual dollars, you would only have enough to level ONE character up, and almost a second. That's insane.
"You can EARN VC in game though". You sure can...at a snails pace. The most difficult challenges award 100 VC, but most are 50 VC. So lets do some math...8,900 / 50 = 178. How LONG do you think it will take you to complete 178 challenges? When you FINALLY get 8,900 VC, guess what? That's only ONE character. Now you have to do that THREE more times! This is all just to unlock the skills.
VC should have NOTHING to do with character progression. Use it to buy clubs, clothes, equipment boosts, Golf Balls, etc. Tying skill progress to your in game currency is just GREED of the highest order. I pre-ordered, played the early access, and now after they crancked up the VC costs, wish I could get a refund.
