Payday 3: Boys in Blue Heist Review (Rhodes)
Heist is ok with more recycled objectives. Connecting truck winches to doors (Hotline Miami), running electrical cords (hose in Counterfeit). Nothing new or interesting, but just another mid addition to an underwhelming game.
Regarding the new character (Clover):
Fortunately, the voice actress is still the same. However, the devs (big surprise here) cut corners and copy / pasted Joy for Clover. Same hair color, same skin color (Irish woman vs Japanese woman), same body but posed slightly differently, and obviously different face. I wouldn't expect anything less from Starbreeze.
Regarding the weapons:
As far as the gameplay value of the weapons: They're mid.
As far as quality control of the weapons go: They're a joke.
Assault Rifle (G3) sounds like a pop gun.
SMG (MP5) incorrectly reloads by pulling the charging handle back and clearing the chamber of the live round, additionally this means the ammo count is incorrect because you fully empty the gun, then somehow have 31 rounds in your magazine, instead of 30. On top of this, for an actual empty reload animation, it reloads correctly but different and slower??
If you're not gun savvy: You only pull the charging handle / slide back on a gun when it's *empty*, so it loads the bullet from the magazine into the empty chamber. If it's not an empty reload, there's a bullet in the chamber already, so this doesn't need to be done. If you do this anyway, it ejects the live, unspent round. For some reason, the MP5 in game does this.
Pistol (.500 Magnum) cylinder doesn't rotate when firing, and the empty non-empty reloads are the same. Dump all of the bullets out even if you've spent one. It has 5 shots, they could've gone with 1,1,3with a half moon clip, or 5 with speed loader when empty. That's nit-picking anyway, I digress. They simply cut corners.
Anyway, Payday 3 is still a pile of slop made by uninspired / incompetent developers. So much hype for an absolute nothing-burger of an update. Until Den of Wolves comes out and wipes Payday 3 off the map, play Crime Boss: Rockay City. It has it's flaws, but it's still infinitely more fun than this trash heap.
