Payday 2: Mountain Master Heist Review (Moffein)
10/10 map, fun in both Loud and Stealth.
Visuals/theming is unique, using the muscle car to ram through the meeting room doors is awesome as hell. Enemy density is high, but they all spawn on the sides of the map (rather than spawning directly on top of you) so it's manageable.
Yufu Wang is an actually challenging bossfight with unique mechanics, as he gets a flamethrower and only takes damage from the front. Much more memorable than The Commissar/Hector/Sosa, who are pushovers that just get stunlocked to death the moment they spawn.
Stealth is well-designed. All the guards on this map patrol a specific area and don't overlap with each other, unlike other stealth heists where they just randomly wander around the whole map while constantly clipping into each other. I find this much more enjoyable since it allows you to strategically kill guards to create safe areas, as opposed to most other stealth maps where killing guards doesn't do anything relevant.
Overall my absolute favorite out of all the new heists.
Notes:
- Mark Bookshelf asset helps a lot, pretty much mandatory for stealth.
- In stealth, the guards with ties are gangsters (no pagers, inflated bodyshot HP when alerted).
- This is one of those maps where guards can see through the crack in the hinge of the cam room door, so just bag the cam operator to be safe.
- Crew AI sometimes doesnt detect that the meeting room has been opened, and will not come to the roof. I think lockpicking the roof ladders fixes this? Not sure.
