Payday 2: Hotline Miami Review (Rat)

It's finally here, is it worth it?
yes, it is.
The weapons, at the current time of me writing this review, are a bit.. less than I would expect for 6.29, but, the real beauty is within the heist itself. The heist is as you would expect from a Dentist mission. Preplanning, favors, all the lovely things that you are sure to remember from the big bank. My first impressions of the heist would be that I would just quickly run through the mission once or twice and never play it again. However, upon playing it, I realized there is a great deal of depth in the mission, as well as multiple functions absent in previous Payday heists. From opening DeLorean car doors to Mobsters actually firing at the Police, this heist does a lot of things right. I do like how Overkill chose to expand the secondaries more than the primaries in this DLC, however I feel like it should have included maybe one more weapon.. although the sheer amount of content in the heist, masks, and materials make up for it. Owners of Hotline Miami will also be pleased to find that they will recieve a bit of a care package in the form of some familiar masks.
EDIT: 4 hours of binge playing after:
Okay, so. After 4 hours of me playing nothing but this heist I do believe I am ready to write down my final thoughts.

The Heist:

First off, I am still madly in love with this heist. The amount of fun I had playing this with some friends was absolutely amazing, and I believe I now know why. This heist is nothing like the stock heists you get in Payday 2, it seems like something straight out of Payday: The Heist, with action at every turn and over-the-top events and enviroments. This heist is nothing short of absolute fun. It combines many aspects from previous heists, such as a Meth Lab to cook meth in if you are feeling extra greedy, and searching for clues just to find that freakin' barcode. However, I did feel a very Payday: The Heist like experience during the second day, with various events where you must act quickly and defuse C4 to get a cash reward, and an achievement to boot. If the guns do not impress you, believe me, the Heist will.

Weapons:

The Uzi is a very good secondary, and it feels as if it should be a primary. Strong bullets and controllable recoil without mods. With mods you can virtually eliminate the recoil whilst continuing to have the amazing firepower this weapon offers. However, the downside of this weapon is its terrible ammunition pool. Clocking in at 113 total ammo, you absolutely NEED Fully Loaded, or aim your shots very carefully to avoid ammo loss. Good irons also remove the need for a sight of any sort, which is always a plus if you're strapped for cash and need to decide between that muzzle break or a sight.
The Tec-9 is very similar to what you would expect, a short range bullet hose. It is notably able to equip the Military Red Dot Module, which I highly reccomend, as the stability is much needed on this weapon. I found the weapon to be a very good hip-fire weapon, although it does have usable irons. Total ammo pool is a healthy 150 rounds, which is very healthy for the weapon, as you can quickly pile up ammo drops from fallen enforcers with this gun, just don't get too trigger happy, or you'll find yourself dry.
And lastly, but certainly not least, the Skorpion. This weapon has a respectable fire rate, as well as powerful bullets. Without mods, this weapon can perform very well from short to mid-range combat without much accuracy loss or loss of control. It performs good when firing from the hip, but I prefered to aim down the sights with this weapon. The irons are a bit flat and can be hard to look through someimes, so a sight would not be a total waste on this weapon. Total ammo pool is a generous 200 rounds, which is more than enough to cut through the waves of any enemy unfortunate to come into the sights of this weapon.

Final Score:

8/10
While it is still a very unique DLC from recent ones, it just felt like there was more to be craved by the end of the two day heist. I would highly reccomend this, however, as it is a must have if you are looking for a challenging, over-the-top heist that is very reminiscent of the first Payday. OVERKILL, if you read these reviews, I beg you to add more heists like this one!
