Payday 2: Crude Awakening Heist Review (Hylie)
A great sendoff, but gameplay-wise, it's uh... slightly flawed.
Non-linear objectives are cool and all, but... pipe matching? Seriously? I thought I was playing a heisting game, not Where's My Water for mobile phones. And dear god, please don't make us wait 3 minutes for each oil sample to process, just for it to fail!
Anyway, the bugs. In my playthrough, I've encountered two bugs. First is a visual glitch that happens when looking at a certain angle (could be my mods, idk), and the second one is sort of game-breaking. During the pipe matching objective (dear god), the spawns just... ceased to exist. I went through 5 assault waves without a singular cop ever spawning in. And the second time that happened was while I was searching for the blow torch (the pre-boss objective, where you need to cut the cage open), the cops... despawned as soon as they spawned in. No idea why. But when i got to the boss, the cops magically started spawning again, for a WHOPPING 1 minute, before ceasing to exist. After I've killed the boss, the spawns resumed like normal. Was that... intentional? Only Starbreeze/OVERKILL knows.
The ending part was pretty cool though. The vocals kicking in was *mwah*. Chef's kiss. Overall, the heist is pretty, plays well, aside from a couple bugs and P I P E S (ive lost my sanity doing that objective)
