Ori and the Will of the Wisps Review (kornish krab)
I bought this game when it was on sale for $10. I am not upset with my purchase, but I would have been had I paid full price.
Pros:
- Art is dope.
- Music is dope.
- Story is pretty good, with characters I liked
- The platforming is fun, and they give you tons of tools to just go crazy. There isn't any punishment for using your weapons or other methods to do skips, which is pretty neat. The platforming is the best part of the game.
- The constant addition of new skills makes the game exciting. I never felt stuck.
- The spirit trials are fun. They were a good addition.
- You can't just buy everything immediately. It actually ended up pretty perfect for me. As I was getting every collectible I was just barely able to afford the last purchase.
Cons:
- I was excited when I heard that this game had a larger combat focus than the previous game. I was a bit disappointed. I don't think the art style meshes with the combat. There is so much going on with the foreground and the background that just clouds up the fights. The hit boxes are also pretty ambiguous. I wanted it to be Hollow Knight, just like I wanted the first one to be Hollow Knight. It was not.
I did like the final boss though. It had the same problems the other boss fights had, but it made up for it by being super cool.
- some of the quests are boring
- It's really not a very long game, especially if you're paying 30 dollars for it
If you liked the first one, you'll probably like this one even more. I thought the first one was okay, a well-made game that wasn't what I was looking for. I liked this one better.
