Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition Review (OmniAegis)

I just finished Ori and the Blind Forest. And as always, it's time for a game review.

I'll start this simple enough and say that this game is a work of art! Everything that was done in this game was done with a lot of love. The music, the visuals, the story, the controls, everything is expertly and beautifully done. The devs put their heart and soul into this one. Someone looked at the Metroidvania genre and said "Let's make this beautiful". That's not to say that other games in the genre aren't wonderful, but the devs of Ori were on a mission for this one. And I really appreciate how approachable this game is. The difficulty scales well with the game and while there are very challenging moments, nothing feels frustrating. Also, the end of the game isn't the end of the game. You really do want 100% this game. And it's not all that difficult to do. The main game took me about 15 hours to go through, and that was with some exploring but not a whole lot.

The only thing I will say for people who have not played this is to know what to expect as you approach it. The first, the story is a heart wrencher. Like Pixar level heart breaking story. The other is that this is not a game where you are a badass space bounty hunter, vampire hunter, or insect with a sword. You're a gentle woodland spirit, and the game play reflects that. So if you're expecting frantic combat game play, this is not that game. Neither of those things are a negative. You should just know what you're getting into.

Ultimately, Ori and the Blind Forest is absolutely worth the full price. So go out there and play this one!
