Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty Review (Barry Burton)
Like many gamers I grew up with the OG Abe games and was so excited to play this one. Unfortunately after several attempts I absolutely cannot get into this remake. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is, perhaps the subtle changes to movement, the slightly "off" controls (both controller and MnKB) or the whole look of the game. The original has such a superb dark, dank grimy feel to Rupture Farms which the remake completely ditches in favor of a bright, over-postprocessed and visually busy design. I think it really loses something that made the first so visually and thematically distinctive. I guess I don't exactly "not recommend" it as I think newcomers may get a kick out of it and frankly this is a franchise that needs all the love and recognition it can get. As an OG fan though, I can't help feeling sorely disappointed with it and will likely just replay the original again.
