Octopath Traveler II Review (N11)
Octopath Traveler II, a worthy sequel.
After playing Octopath I and loving it, being a major fan of the Final Fantasy series, I am so far 10 hours into Octopath II and I can not get enough of it.
If you played Octopath I and liked it, this is a must purchase. If you like (J)RPGs with turn-based combat and especially the Final Fantasy series, this is a must purchase.
The developers took the critique for Octopath Traveler I to heart and improved on lackluster features. Combat can now be sped-up to make grinding easier, the stories of the main characters are more intertwined and they have real interactions with each other in combat, the graphics look astonishing compared to Octopath Traveler I and the world is more beautiful and immersive than ever.
With new features like the day-night cycle which you can switch, it allows you to explore every area twice if you want to and find different NPCs, enemies and more. There can even be different NPCs or events each time you switch from day to night.
The Travelers now each have 2 path abilities for day and night, which improve the in comparison stale path actions from Octopath Traveler I. That way you have a wide variety of possibilities to attain your goal.
The combat has been improved with the aforementioned *2 speed, the new latent abilities and the new subjobs, which introduced a new way to unlock abilities. Each character even has new abilities I have not unlocked yet, nor do not know what they do, but am excited to find it out.
The story so far is in some parts similar to the previous game, although in certain ways more close to home.
If you want a good turn-based RPG that is worth the price, get Octopath Traveler II.
