Octodad: Dadliest Catch Review (RiceWrap)
Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a frustrating mess of a game, yet every second was amazing.
It is one of those 2013 games that puts fun front and center. With funny rag dolls, wonky physics, and a great soundtrack it fits perfectly between Surgeon simulator, Goat simulator, and I am bread.
The first time I heard about this game was many years ago when looking up game play on NerdCubed's channel. It was one of the times when I couldn't afford the game but now I can finally enjoy it.
What is of note is that it can be frustrating. Your character might not do precisely what you want, or an item glitches out. It never got in the way of me, but I can see how it is frustrating to others.
With a runtime of around 2 hours, it is pretty short, which you should keep in mind when buying this game. I honestly suggest buying during Steam's significant sales. It's usually in the $2.99 range as of typing this review.
If funny rag dolls, a fun story, and slightly frustrating controls are your thing, get this game as it is a blast!
Also note, while the story may be around 2 hours, you can easily extend that by playing workshop levels from the workshop and playing 100% of collecting items and achievements.
