Not Tonight 2 Review (❤ thatguy_luigi ❤)

3/5 Get it if you want or if you’re thinking, the game is honestly carried by the gameplay and art which are pretty important all things considered. A decent sequel to the first Not tonight, takes place in the USA as it essentially crumbles. Which is ew the USA sucks. If you haven't played the first not tonight you don't need to play it to play this game, but you probably should just play it to get the references and to get a better hang of gameplay. Both games are very reminiscent of 'Papers, please' which I loved they even had a thank you to 'papers, please' and Lucas Pope for the inspiration. Get the game if you really liked the first Not Tonight and Papers, please. If your on the edge just try papers, please first.
Story: The story is fine, but lackluster. There is a lot going on for it, all to amount to what I felt like wasn't much. Also way too much dialogue, so much dialogue, it was honestly the biggest thing that turned me off the game. The dialogue was getting a bit repetitive and boring. I do appreciate all the satire surrounding american politics and the current climate of many areas. So many subtle things that were great which were then ruined by the dialogue explaining/pointing out the satire.
Gameplay & controls: The loop of checking for different things as a bouncer is fun, they usually cycle in new gimmicks per area which are a gamble whether their good or not. Some of the gimmicks were pretty fun and some were making me suffer like the one where you had to hit according to a beat and it didn't help that it was also somewhat bugged. The game doesn't give you much time to really enjoy any of the fun gimmicks though.
Visual design: Backgrounds and pixel art are really good, but the profiles are ugly. The backgrounds are all really cool and are one of the things I most anticipated when arriving in a new area.
Music and SFX: Every area had a new song which was cool and a lot of them complimented the area, but most of the songs were pretty annoying and I ended up muting a lot of them. No voice acting but the characters did make sounds which were super annoying especially Kevin who had a squeaky voice.
Enjoyment: Somewhat fun, made me want to play the original Not tonight again.
Bugs & Other problems: Relatively bugless, but there is one issue with the IDs. Since the pixel art isnt very detailed (which would have been fine) some characters will have a slight difference between their ID and it will be very difficult to tell the difference (if the ID is fake or not). I've also gotten plenty of IDs with the only difference being a hat or earrings and they were somehow fake. They also didn't learn from the first game on the denying issue. Kicking someone out for having fake paperwork takes way too long which sucks when you are trying to beat the clock. I remember seeing a review saying that it would be faster to just let someone in and take the penalty than it is to kick someone out which is completely true. You also don't get paid for people you kick out so if you get three fake IDs back to back you could be screwed on some levels which sucks. Either make kicking out people faster or pay us for kicking people out with fake papers.
Overall, decent game and a great addition to the paperslike genre. I've named it that and you can't stop me.
Theres also no infinite mode? I 100% the game and there is no infinite mode given at the end. Super dissapointed.
Also what's with the lighter?? Its the desktop logo and its being thrown by Kevin on the banner, but there is no lighter that plays any important part? Sometimes you can catch people with lighters, but they play no role in the game.
