Northgard: Kernev, Clan of the Stoat Review (DiscoBiscuit)
The Stoat clan is an interesting and challenging clan, that rewards you for good micro and planning. Thematically, it is also interesting, with a focus on the early game units of the southern kingdoms.
There is room for improvement, however. The use of forts is great, however it is strange and frustrating that they cannot act in any way defensively when your military is not nearby. Since this faction is limited on the number of forts it can build, there is no way to use frosts as defensive structures. The Stoat clan should receive an upgrade that lets the forts shoot arrows similar to the more primitive viking towers, or receive another building which shoots arrows and can be used as defence. Perhaps if maybe the number of forts which were upgraded was limited, but basic forts could be created infinitely?
Another minor gripe is the skin of the lords. They look cool, however it would be great if they had a more Brittany styled skin, similar to the awesome looking Warchief. Knightly plate armor does not fit with the theme of the clan. Also, the icon for the Warchief looks totally different to the in game model for some reason. I like the round shield better actually...
It is also a shame there is no unique relic for this clan!
I would still recommend this dlc, however, and I am glad to see another Southern Kingdoms faction in the game.
