Nocturnal Review (HadeZerX)
Walk and spam left mouse button. Dash when something tries to damage you. Heal when low on HP. Repeat until you win.
Gameplay is basically see thing -> do thing.
See a torch? Light it.
See an enemy? Hit it.
See a platform? Jump on it.
See a locked door? Go in the only other possible direction and find a switch to open it.
Enemy is invincible? Run away.
No thinking is necessary, aside from basic pattern recognition.
There are a few (optional) puzzles, but they all rely on the exact same method to solve them. There's just a picture on a wall in a nearby room where it's explained how to solve it. If you can't find it, then you can just brute force the puzzle in under two minutes, since it's just a maximum of four torches that you have to light in the correct order.
I easily finished the game and did 100% achievements in 2.6 hours.
If what I've written above made you interested, then go ahead and buy Nocturnal on sale. The base price is outrageous.
While I don't particularly regret playing this game: if I could send my thoughts to my past self, I would not buy Nocturnal.
Edit: I've read the other (positive) reviews, which treat Nocturnal like it's some super innovative experience. It... really isn't. Play more good games.
