No Man's Sky Review (RPG Gamer Man)
NOTE: This review was made after Waypoint update.
Hello friends,
Today i will review the game NO MANS SKY. What is this game about? This is hard to describe. This game is many things to many people. I will try to explain what it entails though. You explore the galaxy and find new planets, new alien species, new weird animals and plants, weird environments, and many other weird things in outer space. Some people like the game for the survival aspects where you build a base and try to survive in harsh environments. Some people think it is for fighting pirates and mauraders. So the game entails all these things, making it a game where you can do anything you want basically.
There are story quests and community expeditions to do which give awards. There is a place called the anomaly where you can meet up with others and do quests together using the NEXUS interface at the anomaly. There are also places to upgrade things at the anomaly and learn new building blueprints.
The game with the most recent patch has improved many things, including making the game more accessible to those who do not want the survival or fighting part of the game. You can go into settings and lower difficulty. You can also play explorer mode which also removes these things. There are many settings in the game to have it play how you want.
NOTE: You may want to turn off PVP under networking setting as if you are a beginner, many people PVP against you. There are also other settings under networking that can change things in the game in multiplayer. The most place people can interact with each other is in the Anomaly.
So for my pros/cons list:
PROS:
- You can do whatever you want in this game, within certain limits.
- The game is upgraded all the time, every 2-3 months and actually give improvements to the game.
- Community Expeditions.
- Basically a infinite galaxy to explore.
- Build a huge base or go around killing pirates, your way to play the game.
- Technically there is no ending to the game, so you can play it forever.
- You can use a controller to play the game. I use a logitech F310 and it works fine.
- You can own a settlement.
- This game works with VR and without VR.
CONS:
- The graphic level looks low for the game, but remember, the galaxies are super big.
- Repetition can cause people to quit as after awhile, the game also gets very repetititve.
- Many people who end up doing everything have nothing left to do. At this point, it would be wise to quit the game for awhile, play another one, and come back.
- There are some bugs in the game you can still run into, such as the third person view on derelict freighter, but there are workaround if you look in the forum for most of them.
Do i recommend this game? Yes. I really liked it. There was alot of controversy when it first came out, but the game to me is very good. It also is very relaxing flying among the stars in space and exploring. This is not a game for people who like alot of action, it is more slow paced. There is fighting in the game, but not much and not all the time.
