No Longer Home Review (Yamanezu)
Admittedly, I wasn't sure how to feel about this game. There were interesting elements to it that piqued my interest but then it felt like it didn't quite led anywhere. I felt it captured the apprehension, worry and forlorn feeling of moving onto a new chapter in your life and having to part from friends you've been with for a significant time in your life.
So, narrative-wise, I think it captures the atmosphere really well. Gameplay-wise...it feels more like a visual novel with a story, and it's interesting that your conversation choices is usually between the responses of different characters to a topic or situation rather than different responses from a single character. Gotta say, interesting choice (no pun intended).
I have mixed feelings, but I think it's still worth playing through, if you're into thought-provoking narrative games rather than fast-paced, action games.
