No Longer Home Review (Malty)

Mixed feelings about this one. I say I recommend it just to push up the avg review score, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend it to most people.
I enjoyed my time here. It is less of a game and more of a time capsule, both specific to the protagonists and yet relatable to most. 20-somethings who have experienced the sudden thrust into society and been a bit lost. Pressure from family or society pushes against your own desire to do something different. Frustration at yourself and the world for going through the whole academic system and still coming out rather unprepared on the other side. And some rather newer struggles many younger people feel these days about sexuality and gender norms.
I never finished uni myself but still had a lot of the same feelings and worries depicted in this. To be honest, I had mostly forgotten them. Having sort've relived them through this game, through the lens of a 30 something year old, I realise that it was a bubble that seemed like a mountain at the time.
Any piece of media that can remind me of feelings and times long forgotten, and allow me to reflect on it with a different perspective, is something quite special.
I will refrain from giving this a mark out of 10 as it just doesn't feel right for this particular game, but I will recommend this game to anyone going through any of the struggles I have mentioned, or anyone who did years ago and wants to relive it a little.
