New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja Review (Chapels)
I'm disappointed.
I've been waiting for this release for a very long time, a Joe and Mac remake was announced way back in the 360 era for Xbox Live Arcade and eventually news just stopped completely. So when this finally was announced I was very excited to play it at release with how nostalgic I am for the SNES version. To this day that game remains an excellent title and very high quality platformer.
However, what we have here has simply not lived up to expectations, I typically wouldn't write a review, but at this price especially for the game offered here I can not recommend this title. As other reviewers have mentioned the options are incredibly lacking. Controls feel unresponsive and attacks lack weight and emphasis. For a title that looks like a celebration of a series, it also misses the biggest highlights. It almost seems like some sound effects are simply missing.
I couldn't be more disappointed than I am right now in this release. I'll say that certain parts of it do look like an attempt was made to celebrate Joe and Mac, but the product as it is available here has fallen significantly short of my expectations as a fan.
I hope that if this studio has future plans for the series they can create a more enjoyable experience.
