Neptunia Riders vs. Dogoos Review (Zanameth)
Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos is, well... Terrible.
I won't go as far as calling it hot garbage because it works and is bug-free, but the game being 60% off two months after release should tell you everything you need to know about what to expect.
The good :
- Smooth performance, but mostly because the graphics are very basic.
- The usual gang with the usual voice actors.
The bad :
- Outrageously overpriced for the amount of content you get. Doing 100% achievements will take you no more than 6 hours. And a good third of that will be spent on...
- ... that final boss fight, which is mildly infuriating, because of the crappy mechanics, terrible camera, dumb AI, and so on.
- Most cosmetics are low effort are pretty terrible. I bet even I could do better than those under-20-polygons items; in a few days with a crash course on 3D.
- Neptunia doesn't shine for it's overly complex stories, but this is really grass-level stuff. Go touch some grass, they said? Well, I'm touching the hell out of it right now.
- Gameplay feels very repetitive, the different effects you get from collecting "items" on the fields barely matters at all, and some mechanics can be totally ignored.
Conclusion :
I like the Neptunia universe. I got almost all of its games. Yet I cannot comprehend why Compile Heart keeps pumping these low effort garbage games when all the fans have been asking for is Neptunia VIII.
It's been ten years. Ten freaking years, and nothing. This is the GTA6/Silksong joke of the Neptuverse at this point.
Verdict : 70% sale or no deal. This game doesn't deserve any more of your money than that.
