Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections Review (AdventjX)

Quickfire Review

Skeptical yet hopeful positive review for now. Naruto was my childhood, and I'm sincerely hoping that they bring Connections to greater heights in the next few weeks/months. I'm usually harsh on companies that release games in incomplete states, but Bandai Namco has given us some awesome Storm games in the past decade and I don't want to give up hope. The series has come a long way since the Ultimate Ninja days. Storm Connections itself is polished, although I understand it's a copy & paste game of Storm 4 + DLC with minor changes. The changes themselves are welcome additions, especially the ability use a second jutsu on the fly, which is reminiscent of the older Ultimate Ninja games of the PS2 era. Why it took 5+ Storm games for them to implement it? We will never know.
As with most other players, my biggest gripe at the moment would be the inability to play with friends. They could have charged $39.99 for a game like this, but $$$ is everything right? Why they would release the game in such a state is mind-boggling to me, but nothing in the game industry surprises me anymore. Fix online. Add content. Then we should be fine in the near future.
If I'm brutally honest: I only bought the game at full price to add it to my 100% collection.

Conclusion

Current Verdict: B
Let's pray that they won't just leave the game in its current state. For the most part, I'm looking forward to added content and the ability to play with friends. This game isn't UNS5, so I'll keep my expectations low and just ride the nostalgia wave for the time being. Performance-wise, the game isn't buggy, so that's a plus in and of itself (sad times we live in).
At least now, the younger generation won't call Naruto "BORUTO'S DAD" lmao
