Started by playing the free to play weekend, really enjoyed the game so i bought it. Now i cant play my save file because a piece of nonsense dlc was included somehow for free with my deluxe edition purchase. Then stripped abruptly. It says its still in my library on the storefront when viewing the dlc (its actually 4 small bs dlc's) yet is not under dlc to install and also allows me to purchase with no indicator of ownership under list of purchase. Usually steam says "you already own this game/product" wtf dude.
I can buy the dlc and from what ive read it should allow me to log into my save file but seriously? lock me into spending a few bucks to get my save file back. Tighten up guys this should not happen, also im considering actually having to buy this dlc anyways now because since its bugged and says its still in my library i may not be able to play without it anyway. Great job.
Tried reinstalling the game and all the dlc with same result reading add ons not activated when i try to load save, so my options are to spend a few bucks for no reason or fault of my own just to gain access back to my save file, or start over and hope to god that the whole game isnt bugged unless i buy the damn dlc that i somehow own and do not own simultaneously.
Oh, also its a big pain to carry your save file to another pc considering its a local save not a cloud save in an online game. Nice decision there..
From what i gather reading on the topic is the game save can only be loaded if all the dlc you had installed for whatever reason are present and currently installed. This also means if you buy a dlc and refund it but you activated the dlc in game you will be locked out of playing your save file until you reinstall the dlc which obviously means you have to buy it again. That being said you basically cant refund any dlc without having to start over.
All this being said the game is amazing so i still give a thumbs up but people should be aware of all these glaring issues and not blindsided having to spend time finding a fix. Steam should have verified the dlc no matter how it showed up.
I just wish i could tell you how to avoid this exact situation here because this would not fall under some dlc i purchased individually. Only problem is im not 100% sure where this nonsense dlc came from anyway but it had to be 1 of 3 things
1-Season pass but its not mentioned in the list of items included, however i did find a thread of someone saying its included in season pass
2-Deluxe edition
3-Free to play weekend

-Update, it looks like after a couple days of waiting the dlc no longer says its in my library on the storefront so i guess i could just restart and it shouldnt be bugged, however i hope they never try to slip this dlc in again in the future as "free dlc" and bug people out again
If you really want/need to recover your save file you do have the option of buying the dlc (they are really cheap) but seeing as im only 6 hours in i think i might just restart, it would cost me $4 rn to get the dlc, an $4 for 6 hours progress recovered is meh. However i can see if you had 10's or 100's of hours then spending the few bucks can be worth it to recover your save file
the dlc's bugged rn cost $6 full price just an fyi
