Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 Review (WhiteExperience)
This game is a massive progress compared to the previous titles, it still don't have many of the mechanics found on later entries of the series, but it is pretty good if you're interested in the story which is quite faithful to the anime.
Pros
+ HD remaster at 60 FPS;
+ Very balanced gameplay;
+ Features lots of story content, from the start of Naruto Shippuden until the end of Pain's Assault Arc;
+ The Boss Battle Scenes are very well animated with some parts being extremely accurate to the anime;
+ The story telling is very well executed in this game, with side content left for after you beat the main scenario.
Cons
- This game has the weirdest substitution mechanics in the franchise, requiring frame precision to activate it. It just ends up ruining the gameplay and makes it far inferior to the latter NUNS games.
- You may get a glitched achievement, if you want to get it, you must avoid all Red Scrolls and Memory Crystals until you collect all Blue Scrolls (Story Records) in the game. For this you'll need to complete the Main Scenario, Wanted List and Fragment Chapter to unlock all 108 Story Records to get the Story Assembler;
- Some plot points are completely missing, like the real reason of why Naruto went to Mount Myoboku to train, but the story was still well told in this game;
- No sprint button in the open world;
- In the open world, many maps have a fixed camera angle, but those with free camera have terrible camera controls;
- In Orochmaru's Northern Hideout, the camera gets stuck in some rooms until you walk far away from it;
- The menus in this game are quite slow;
- You have some ridiculous grindy achievements, needing to complete 30 battles with every single character and also online battles.
