NanoApostle Review (ElementThunder)

NanoApostle is an incredibly fun and short little game. After the first boss fight I knew that this game had me hooked and I'd be playing it through to completion.

The whole premise of the game is simple since it's just back-to-back boss fights. This game's combat is extremely fluid and has a surprising amount of depth to it. The amount of different playstyles the combat system can lend itself to is shocking, whether that be charging up to deal massive chunks of damage, or zipping around and slashing repeatedly, slowly chipping away at a boss' health bar. Even after 100%ing the game, doing every single boss hitless and experiencing everything the game has to offer, I can safely say that the combat never got boring or repetitive due to how different each boss was.

Each boss feels completely different to the last, with some specialising in rushing you down, other playing entirely at range, some requiring you to dodge most attacks, while others needing you to constantly execute perfect parries. Each boss tested your knowledge and execution of each of the games mechanics, ultimately converging in one climactic final boss that will definitely test your abilities.

The story as well is also a nice selling point of the game. For how short the game is and how combat-oriented the game is, the story is still really good. The relationship between Anita and Wenny is a constant back-and-forth of emotions that will honestly tug at your heartstrings, and the mystery behind who Anita actually is the flashbacks adding to this mystery. And then the big reveal and curveball from left field in the end is definitely an unexpected one. Despite being so short, I got invested in these characters and cried a bit at the ending.

NanoApostle is an incredible game that is definitely worth the purchase. It'll give you hours of fun gameplay and a great story, as well as an incredible soundtrack, with the final boss theme especially one you'll be in awe of. It's well worth the price and you won't regret the purchase. Even after fully completing the game, I already want to play more and will definitely be coming back to the game and replaying it in the future. Well worth the purchase, so if you're even considering it, take my word and buy NanoApostle, you won't regret it.
