MythForce Review (Ghoul Hunter)

Vermintide 2 vs Mythforce comparison:
Mythforce:
- Better singleplayer. Bad coop. The coop is barely functional with lots of bugs.
- Fully customizable character stats. You can turn your hunter into a mage, for example. Victoria is an exception, she is always physical. You can give yourself damage (physical or magical), crit damage, health, armor (physical and magical), stamina, stamina regen, attack speed, and ability cooldown.
- 4 abilities instead of 1.
- Backstabs are a mechanic. Anyone can backstab. A backstab is always a critical hit.
- Combos exist to conserve stamina. For example, I like to use a heavy mace attack and then follow up with a dagger slash to finish them off, while they are on the ground. Off-hands have their own attack input.
- More exaggerated knockdown system. Enemies on the ground take critical damage, and if you build for critical damage, it's a powerful strategy.
- More enemy variety. 4 enemy factions: Skeletons, Sporemen, Lizardmen, Acolytes. Each has rogues, berserkers, tanks, archers, and mages of various elements. 2 goliaths and 3 elementals exist (minibosses). 3 boss fights. Several unique enemies exist too. All enemies can come in champion form, having buffs and properties.
- Headshots only exist on ranged attacks.
- Many characters share weapons/magic, but not all weapons/magic are shareable.
- Less enemies, but enemies are more dangerous. Rogues can obliterate your health meter, and love to zip up behind you. Acolyte mages are OP AoE monsters. Necrolytes buff entire rooms of monsters, granting them immunity to crowd control, enhanced damage, or regeneration.
- Strong emphasis on timed blocks, parries, and dodges. A perfect block knocks the enemy down. A perfect parry ripostes the enemy. A perfect dodge grants invulnerability frames. It's very satisfying.
- You can play multiple of the same character in one lobby.
- Stamina system. You must measure your actions like in Dark Souls, no spamming. This can be negated by building up your stamina a lot, so it's not a forced mechanic.
- End game progression is locked behind gold, a currency acquired each round. Weapons and gems are upgraded with gold. (This is much more friendly than Vermintide's system)
- If you lose, you keep all your glyphs/gems, but lose a set amount of the gold you found.
- 10 gb size.
Vermintide 2:
- Worse singleplayer. Good coop. The single player forces bots, which means you have to deal with bad bot AI on a regular basis.
- Characters are not as customizable. You can only change talent trees, but stats are fixed.
- 1 ability, but a bit more in-depth weapon fighting system.
- Backstabs are not a thing, except for Shade class.
- Combos exist to deal more damage. For example, a halberd can be stabbed repeatedly, with the right input, allowing it to have great reach and higher headshot damage.
- Knockdown system grants like 20-40% extra damage, but is not particularly memorable.
- Less enemy variety. Most enemies in Vermintide are fodder, having nothing special about them. They exist to swarm you. 2 (3) (anything in parenthesis requires DLC) enemy factions: there are Skaven, northland cultists (and beastmen). 4 (5) mini-bosses. 5 boss fights.
- Headshots exist on all weapons.
- Many weapons are character locked. All magic is pretty much exclusive to Sienna.
- Lots of enemies, but most enemies are not dangerous. There are only a few enemies that need to be noted, such as elites and special foes, like poison globadiers or flame thrower rats.
- Parrying is completely forgettable. Dodging is king. Blocking is useful sometimes, if you are about to get hit. It's functional.
- Can only play one character per lobby. No doubles.
- No stamina system, you can spam attacks as much as you want.
- End game progression is locked behind RNG. In order to get a maxed weapon, you need it to drop. (This is a very obnoxious system that many of us put up with, but never really liked)
- If you lose, you get nothing.
- 100 gb size.
