Monument Valley Review (catgov)
Foreword:
As I grew older I have learned to appreciate simple, well-thought-out and engaging experiences. Monument Valley felt like it would fall into this category, so I gave it a try and it did not disappoint.
Aesthetics:
The game is simple but engaging. It is point and click, the puzzles for me were easy to average in difficulty. The atmosphere is just sublime. The audio and visual prompts are well thought out and weave an engaging narrative, telling a nice story.
Functionality:
It worked perfectly for me. No bugs, errors, or crashes. Game-play-wise, I managed to trap myself in one mission in Forgotten Shores Mission 3: Retrieval, but otherwise I found no stuck points in the game. It flows naturally.
Enjoyment:
I had a lot of fun playing this game, it is what is on the label, no stress, relaxing and engaging.
Conclusion:
Monument Valley is an atmospheric puzzle game that proves simplicity and elegance are enough to make us happy. We do not need to be told what to feel at any point, we hate overpriced, tedious and patronizing games, we just want an honest well designed experience, Monument Valley is just that. I bought it, on a sale, but after playing it, I would've been comfortable paying the full price.
Other Notes:
None at the moment.
