Mini Metro Review (GrimReaperWithALawnmower)
I'm not sure where this game expects players to get a dopamine hit - it's a puzzle game that's predicated on failure, with the speed with which you arrive at that inevitability determined in no small part to RNG. There is no "winning" in the traditional sense; sure, there's objectives to move a certain number of passengers and inducements to constraining oneself for the sake of achieving things. But when you do achieve things, all that you gain is the opening of another map which is ostensibly the same as the one you've just played. Sure, maybe there's more rivers on this new map, but it's still more of the same.
I'm struggling to understand the "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews for this game - it's pretty dull and repetitive with little reward. I'll maybe duck in and out of it in future, but I wouldn't be surprised if this sits on my SSD gathering dust, me forgetting it ever existed.
I'm sure this could be a great game. This just isn't one though.
