Minecraft: Legends Review (Kozzy)
Positives:
- Super fun gameplay
- Great controls
- Audio is really well done
- Art design is nice
- Graphics are good
- Great mix of Strategy and Action genres
- Not very buggy (Zero crashes, no fps issues,etc..)
- Mounts are well done, each one quite different from the next
- Performance is good and no crashes
Negatives:
- Does not work on the Steam Deck (This was fixed a few hours ago on Wed night w/ hotfix)
- Has a bit of a learning curve that I think will be to much for braindead people
- Please do a group search for the Lost Legends group missions, for when friends are offline
Wonderful game so far, played 10 hours on the Gamepass PC version and enjoyed myself so much I had to go grab a copy for PC/Steam Deck (Which I have now played for 9 hours aswell). Took 2-3 hours to get most the things down, but I am still learning stuff many many hours later. If you only play 30 minutes you are not getting everything this game has to offer, the campaign introduces things as you go.
The devs of Deserts of Kharak have done a wonderful job with this game mixing RTS elements and action elements together. C+C Renegade and Sacrifice are the only other games this style that I remember playing in the past. Its a different style than many are use to, you order units around but you are also in the thick of things swinging your sword on your mount.
Great audio and graphics to, best looking minecraft game so far. I would suggest giving this a go if you like RTS or Action games, not so much if you like past Minecraft games or not. It is a game both fans of the IP and newcomers can enjoy. Also strategy fans I think will find this very enjoyable. Not 100% action, not 100% Strategy, its a great gumbo mix of both.
Having a blast so far on the campaign, look forward to trying the PVP/Skirmish matches, I will come back later and edit the review to give my thoughts on the Versus/PVP stuff. But so far the Campaign is awesome, after about the first 30 minutes I really started to have a blast. Look forward to playing ALOT more! Well done to the devs Blackbird Interactive, this game is great fun.
This is pretty much Warcraft 3 mixed Sacrifice/C+C Renegade/Mount & Blade but in the Minecraft world and I am having a great time with it so far. Also crossplay works, played some with a friend who is on another platform and worked great for Coop Campaign, going to play this in both Singleplayer and Coop.
Only negative for me personally is the game does not launch on the Steam Deck, I hope they add support for it down the road because this game is a ton of fun and controls very well with a controller. Make it happen devs!
You crazy bastards at Blackbird Interactive did it.. you made a RTS/Action gumbo pot of a game and its so dang fun. Give this game a try on gamepass atleast, its a sleeper of a game. Up there with Hi Fi Rush & A Pale Beyond for 2023's best game so far for me. I wish more people would give this game an honest try, its so much more than just the Minecraft IP.
I don't think this game will be for everyone though, in this day and age when many people want instant gratification a strategy action hybrid like this might be to much thinking for some people. I would suggest giving this a try if you like the idea of a RTS strategy game mixed with an action game, its a weird but awesome mix.
I will probably be alone in this, but for me this is the best Strategy game in a long time. I have not had this much fun in a strategy title since Anno 1800, Total War Shogun 2 and Deserts of Kharak. Make this Steam Deck compatible and I will be back often to play more.
