MindSeize Review (Razor Rain)

Ignored the bad review comments to give this game a shot, and wholly regretted it.
Everything about this game is full of jank. The movement is clunky, and while functional at the start of the game, become a battle to fight against once the enemies and bosses start opening up new angles of attack. It honestly feels like you're piloting Robocop against Armored Core bosses, and you will die a lot without learning anything new about their attack patterns, just the bitter growing dissatisfaction in your choice of game.
The thing is, boss battles look like they could have been fun to fight, which is a pity because half the time you'll be trying to even get within range of the boss to deal damage. Switch to a ranged weapon? The thing feels like a BB gun shooting a string of pathetic 1 point hits. And the diagonal aim requires pressing 2 different buttons (not even counting the normal movement buttons mind you), which is frankly absurd. In the world 1 monkey end boss fight, just getting into position to shoot it diagonally is a chore, and it's probably gone by the time you get there. This could have been mitigated by a halfway decent healing system, but healing takes too long to apply and too long to regenerate over time for it to be viable in a boss fight.
The game kinda *works*, but with the proliferation of excellent metroidvanias at good prices, simply *working* just doesn't cut it anymore. There are far better games to spend your time and money on.
