Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition Review (Dark Star Dryad)
Almost exactly how I remember it on the Xbox, which is what I wanted! The music is amazing! I can't tell if younger me was better or worse at this game.
Battles are mostly skill with some luck involved, which is most noticeable in the difficulty spike from Godric to Fiona's campaign. I consider myself decent at the game, but got temporarily stuck on a Level 3 fight - that I had to beat to level up my units - because the AI would get a good starting field and I would not. This scenario repeated in Aidan's campaign at the same level. After those fights, the rest of those campaigns were more balanced in difficulty, so it's either a case of early leveling pains, or a skill issue.
Nadia's campaign is the least enjoyable. It's the most linear with no side objectives, half of the artifacts are only available after the campaign ends, and battles take longer due to the faction's slow units and powerful walls. It was a slog, but at least a short one.
Multiplayer is fun when there's actually people online! I've been curbstomped most battles with one near-win, but while you were using the meta for victory, I was having fun matching my little guys.
Grab it on sale and get some dopamine hits from making formations. Cheaper than therapy!
