Metro: Last Light Redux Review (Revel)
THIS IS A "MUST HAVE" SERIES FOR ANY FAN OF THE POST-APOCALYPTIC GENRE
This is the second game in the series, and if you haven't played the first--"Metro 2033"--I highly recommend you start there.
So far I have already soaked in 200-300 hours across the whole series. The story telling, and game-play just compliment each other so well you can just get lost in playing for a few hours. Right now I'm replaying the whole series to achievement hunt which has proven more challenging than most other games I've completed, but in a good way.
I only have 2 issues with this game in the series:
1. The game drives my GPU crazy. I have a 3070ti, and yet this decade old game makes it heat up like a furnace, and the fans spike to 80%. Meanwhile I've run games like: Halo infinite, until dawn, and other more modern titles, and this doesn't happen. It's not a deal breaker, but I do find it odd.
2. The game occasionally crashes. This isn't atypical of older games, or games in general. Whats unique about these crashes are if you simply boot up the game, and continue where you left off the game will continue to crash. Here is how I have found to fix the problem:
When you go to launch the game you will receive an error pop up asking to boot up in "safe mode", click NO, as all this will do is reset all your graphical preferences to the lowest possible setting. Once you get to the main menu go to CHAPTERS, and restart the chapter you were just playing. This will reset your save file, and purge anything that's been corrupted causing the crash. Any collectibles like Artyom's journals you've collected will be saved, but it wouldn't hurt to double check. Repeat for any further crashes.
