Metro 2033 Redux Review (sohn goku)

Bought the game based off of the overwhelmingly positive reviews when it was going for five bucks on the winter sale
For my first game of the Metro series, it certainly was a good experience, although not one of my favorites.
Pros:
> Good variety in difficulty. Played the Survival difficulty or whatever it's called, 2nd one. Really made the game a bit more challenging as someone who's already played numerous shooter games
> Engaging story. Although I told myself "I have no clue what I'm even doing" multiple times, I just went along with everything. This was the good type of lost.
> Lots of other neat things I haven't done but I'm sure are appreciated by other players. I liked going out with a bang and shoot all my enemies to death, but there is an option for you to be stealthy if you're into that. Besides being a post-apocalyptic shooter, apparently you can also get laid here as well, so if that's something you're into then go ahead.
> Just a really fun world to explore. Some parts are really detailed and pretty and it's just really surprising to see from a game that came out in 2014
> Adding to my story as a guns-blazing kinda guy, this game always had my back with ammo and health, so I never felt like I was at a disadvantage for choosing a different playstyle. Maybe others will disagree, but I was doing fine.
> Charming characters
> Decent length, wasn't short but didn't overstay its welcome either, I can appreciate that.
> Lastly, I like the details of standing idle. It caught me off guard when my character suddenly took the shotgun to clean it since I wasn't doing anything besides standing still, and I thought that was neat as hell.
Cons:
> At times, you'll have no clue where to go, and the game doesn't really do a good job helping you with that, which makes navigating those levels frustrating and not fun to complete.
> Some levels in this game were just- not fun to do. This isn't a huge deal as it was only a handful, but they still slightly tainted my experience as I constantly had to take a break during those points.
> Although I liked my difficulty, the lack of hints became a bit of a problem when it actually fails to explain anything to newer players that don't know the controls. What? I have to change filters when it makes the ringing noise? Too late, already died. My favorite is the night vision goggles because you just don't get told at all that they're outta juice and you gotta charge em up.
Overall for the price I paid, it was worth the money. Not necessarily a game I'd recommend to everyone, but it definitely deserves a good review for more publicity, because the game charmed me enough to do so.
