Meet Your Maker Review (Ryles)

There is a magical word that you need to understand in order to evaluate the reviews on Meet Your Maker. That word is "killbox". We will revisit that word at the end of this review.
Meet Your Maker does asymmetrical dungeon building / dungeon crawling better than any game has done it before. It's phenomenal how intimate the relationship between Raider and Builder is. On either side, it feels like I'm having a conversation with the other person.
"Oh, you thought that trap was going to catch me? Or were you just trying to lull me into false security for this next trap?"
"I was just laying a foundation for you... wait until you see what's next."
It's psychological, creative and skill-based all at once - and every dungeon is different! Everyone building bases for you to raid - they all want to kill you, of course, but they might also want you to chuckle, feel silly, or become intrigued by the aesthetic design of their base.
The biggest flaw with MYM is the lack of tools. There's a decent starting number of traps, but there's only four kinds of guards and there's only two suits (read: characters) with which you can raid. The devs have made it clear that they're going to expand on all of these, so I'm not too worried about it.
An element of MYM that you may consider to be a flaw is the need to git gud.
You can choose to raid Normal, Dangerous, or Brutal bases. The difficulty is determined by a combination of the volume of traps and guards deployed and their proximity to the main path for you to take through the base.
The community has received this information very, very poorly.
Simply, "killbox" is the word that critics use when they see a lot of traps and/or guards condensed in a way that makes them difficult to overcome - but, at the risk of sounding elitist, the people who complain about "killboxes" are not the ones who are beating them.
If you listen to the average critic who uses the word "killbox", you might be led to believe that the majority of player-built bases are basic boxes absolutely crammed full of 30 traps firing at you at once. This is not even remotely true. Far less than half of the bases I raid (on brutal difficulty) qualify as "killboxes" - and even if you're a more casual player, you can just play on the lower difficulties. The community is building tons of bases for every difficulty and nobody will think less of you for playing on them.
