The price is literal robbery
For now, this game doesn't really have anything going for it.
The story, the gameplay, and the main character are all monotonous.
Due to the game's increasing linearity and weariness after two hours, I started to nod off.
Gameplay
Up until this point, there hasn't really been much investigation required; all you have to do is move around accepting tasks and side quests, then enter a subpar imitation of the Persona 3 FES labyrinth where you have to defeat weak monsters and a weak boss in set locations; these battles are so god damn exhausting and boring. Also stated in the game's instructions.
"Use the auto-battle feature if you're sick of fighting!"
Let me guess, oh. Is it possible to unlock it later? Great, because it's not in the features currently. Update: It was added in after a few missions, what?
There is also some stupid deck builder game where you can use futuristic gadgets to hack people's brains for information in the main story, but why?
It's suppose to be a visual novel, not a card game nor combat game intermingled. Having said that, the visual novel component is merely okay, nothing exceptional, and has a hard time evoking Doe's feelings in particular.
Yes, sure. A lot of games do these things to break apart the pace and make things enjoyable for everyone, while the game itself isn't absolutely terrible or unplayable, it's sure as hell not worth 60 CAD (Taxes).
Other games you can buy
Are you aware of the video games you could purchase for this amount of money? There are several games with excellent gameplay, such as the Detective Frog Collection, Ai Somnium Files, and the Danganronpa Collection, plenty more but these are a few that come to mind.
Moreover, why the hell do some visual novels opt to have voices in very particular spots while having the entire game be a reading novel? Choose one or the other, and employ a respectable non-monotone voice actor for the main character instead of everyone else.
Conclusion
Do not waste your money on this game currently. It's barely worth 20 dollars.
There is nothing inherently special or groundbreaking here. It's all been done before but better.
